Good News to begin a day; Afzal Guru hanged early morning today. The Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist was hanged at 8 am today inside Delhi's Tihar Jail. Home Secretary RK Singh and Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has confirmed this new.
Afzal Guru was found guilty in conspiracy to attack Parliament on December 13, 2001 and was awarded death sentence by Delhi court on December 18, 2002. He appealed in Delhi high court, but Delhi Hing court find him guilty and hence his appeal was dismissed after two years. The death sentence was scheduled on 20 October 2006, but Afzal's wife filled a mercy petition with the president, so he remain in death row. On 3 February 2013, his mercy petition was rejected by the Indian President.
Afzal Guru was charged for involvement in attack on Parliament by Five gunmen. They killed nine persons and opened a fire in parliament complex. They included five Delhi Police personnel, a woman Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official, two Parliament watch and ward staff and a gardener.
